QUASQUICENTENNIAL PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, the City of George was established in 1884, and

WHEREAS, the year 2009 is the 125^th year of the establishment of

                   George and it should be given special recognition, and

WHEREAS, the City of George has many citizens who, through

                  their intellect, ingenuity, and dedication to life, have

                  served the community, state, and nation well and

                  faithfully, and

WHEREAS, in order to perpetuate the history and tradition of the

                  area and community, it is good that the

                  Quasquicentennial anniversary of 2009 be therefore

                   properly commemorated during this calendar year.

NOW, therefore, I, Jerry L. Nichols, Mayor of the City of George,

                  do hereby proclaim 2009 as the year of our

                  Quasquicentennial celebration, and do hereby proclaim

                  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 3, 4, and 5, 2009 as

                  Quasquicentennial Days in George, Iowa.
